Stanley Kubrick died eight years ago today.
It was in the non-Kubrick sequel, 2010, that HAL, the most human of characters in 2001, asked:
“Will I dream?”
HAL had the good fortune of being able to ask this question of his maker (Dr. Chandra) just before HAL died. Chandra responded with only honest answer to the question that has haunted men for millenia:
“I don't know.”
