Overheard at Breakfast (Unmeaning Flattery)

Turned 39 Sunday. That's 39, as in “just” — not as in “and holding.”

We originally planned to see the new Indiana Jones movie in the morning ($4 seats at the AMC for all shows before noon), but I overslept. Big surprise, huh? Actually, I woke up at 9:30, but Candy encouraged me to get some more shut eye.

So breakfast was in the early afternoon at Village Inn, and it was there that I heard the following conversation:

Waitress: What'll you have?

Prepubescent Boy: I'd like the chocolate chip pancakes, but can you hold the chocolate chips?

Pause. Awkward silence.

Waitress: So you'd like just pancakes?

Prepubescent boy: Yeah!

Seal "Collection 001"

Early in his career, Seal was renowned for his awesome live and acoustic versions of his songs. My OCD kicked in and I tracked 'em all down and then some. The most rare track is the live version of "Crazy" from a televised AIDS benefit. I recorded it on VHS, then dumped it into my computer and cleaned it up — heck, I basically re-mastered it. How do I sum up this hand-picked collection? Seal says it best when he sings: "Love, love, love..." Link is to my cover.
