The band's mastermind, Trent Reznor, has announced that after this tour he is going to put the group on hold for a while. Any doubts about how serious he is were eliminated when these images showed up on the Nine Inch Nails web site last week.
Then, Saturday night, when the sun was still up and the band took the stage, they started with a song I didn't remember ever hearing before. Earlier today, after we got back, my friend Google helped me figure out that it is a song called “Now I'm Nothing.” Trent has never released a studio version of it and hadn't played it live since September 13, 1991, in London.
It is a short song and some of the lyrics are:
Smashed myself to pieces
I'm sifting through the ashes
Oh what i have become
I gave myself away now I'm nothing
I let it slip away now I'm nothing
All that I can do is break myself in two
Now i'm nothing
Wave wave wave wave goodbye
Wave wave wave wave goodbye
It was a bittersweet moment... and then he started rocking for the next hour-and-a-half.
And get this... someone has already released online a live version of the concert Candy and I went to last night. Download links at your Link of the Day.
