My grandmother, Alice Brady, my mother's mother, turns 86 years old today.
As far back as I can remember, I've never called her grandma. It was always "Brady." I think the way the story goes is that my mom and dad used to refer to my mother's parents as "Grandpa and Grandma Brady." But because my dad's parents were "Mummu and Granpda," I guess my young mind came to the conclusion that my other grandmother (other than Mummu) had to have a special name, so my mom's parents became "Grandpa and Brady."
What's not clear to me is whether or not my parents ever tried to get me to change the habit and, if so, how it all worked out. Well, I guess we know how it all worked out — I didn't change.
What's the story, Mom?
Anyway, let's back to the congratulations. Happy Birthday, Brady! I wasn't sure what the best picture was for me to post today, but then I remembered that I have another one of grandpa. So the image for the day is of my grandmother Alice's one and only love, Leo.
