In the weeks leading up to Alex's visit, I tormented him over the phone with stories of alligators in our backyard. Then, when this image appeared on the Tallahassee Democrat web site last week, my plan was complete.
I e-mailed the picture to my sister Shannon with the following lead-in:
Tell Alex his job will be to check under the car for alligators.
While we were on the phone, she had Alex read it out loud and then she showed him the picture. She said his eyes got really wide and he didn't say a word.
Wait 'til you see what I had waiting for him when they pulled into the driveway yesterday.
