Phoenix Trying

Sunday 06/29/2008 7:16 AM

Written while running five years ago:

I could dunk a basketball at the break of dawn.
Run through the splatter of the pavement spray.
Set another record while re-setting the baseline.
Standing staring at the sky under pouring leaves.

Running side by side with Ereshkigal.
Hand outstretched just to grasp the rain.
“Done, done, on with the next one.”
Fast tone strengthens - my only trophy.

Beckoning climb with shadow pronoucing.
Black butterfly flapping in the middle of June.
Streetlights extinguished as I pass by.
An entirely new kind of endurance.

I love today's picture so much that I'm *this* close to grabbing the hi-res version (see your Link of the Day) and getting someone to print it on canvas for me for that faux painting look. I'll frame it in some ostentatious frame so I can hang it in Peter's Pad, my private room in the back of the house with my big screen TV and poker-money-purchased Italian leather loveseat.

Link of the Day: Dark Clouds of the Carina Nebula

File Under: Link of the Day; Poetry
Music: Coldplay "Viva La Vida"
